World Red Eye Interview with Cris Cab

THE COLLECTION has partnered together again with World Red Eye for the #MusicDrive305 to give readers a closer look into the stunning new McLaren 570S, this time with the singer-songwriter, Cris Cab. The Miami native, started music at a very young age; heavily influenced by his hometown and the summers he’s spent in the Bahamas. Cab’s melodically seductive reggae and tropical pop has gotten him over 31 million YouTube views, tours all over Europe, and throughout his career has been mentored by Pharrell Williams. With the release of his latest hit Laurent Perrier ft. Farruko, Kore, there is no telling what is next for this young artist. Cab stepped out of the studio and into the McLaren 570S – read the full Q&A below!

WRE: How did you get into music, is it something you were always passionate about?

CC: Music is always something that came natural to me. I grew up listening to a lot of different genres in my house. My dad listened to music like Marvin Gaye, Berry White, Lou Rawls, and The Bee Gees- and my brother was listened to hip hop.

WRE: Where did you take the McLaren 570S for a spin?

CC: I had an amazing week driving the McLaren 570S all through Miami. I found myself taking the drive from my house in Coral Gables to The Faena a lot, which is one of my favorite hotels on the beach, to relax and have some dinner.

WRE: What was your favorite feature of the McLaren 570S?

CC: What I loved most about the McLaren 570S other than the amazing engine of course was how user friendly the technology was, everything was simple and easy to use.

WRE: If you could take the McLaren 570S anywhere, where would it be?

CC: If I could take the McLaren 570S anywhere I’d probably drive it through the mountains in the South of France. What I loved most about the McLaren 570S other than the amazing engine of course was how user friendly the technology was, everything was simple and easy to use.

WRE: What would you say influences your music?

CC: I was into classic rock and bands like The Stones and The Police. Eventually, by way of the Bahamas I began listening to a lot of reggae music. I began to teach myself how to play the guitar when I was 9 years old, and after began to write and sing my own music.

WRE: If you could collaborate with any artist right now who would it be and why?

CC: If I could collaborate with any artist right now, it would probably be Lenny Kravitz because I am a fan of what he does and appreciate that he is still writing and producing his music and staying true to his craft.

WRE: In the past, who was your favorite artist to work with?

CC: My favorite producer/artist to work with is Pharrell Williams he is my mentor and big bro to me – every time we are in the studio together, I learn something new and he is a true wizard at what he does.

WRE: Tell us about your latest song Laurent Perrier ft. Farruko, Kore.

CC: My latest song Laurent Perrier featuring Farruko and Kore is about celebrating and of course my love for champagne. I became very close with some amazing people from the Laurent Perrier Family and while I was in Paris recording. I took a trip over to Reims France, (“The Champagne Area”), and was inducted into the Orde Des Coteaux De Champagne, (“The Champagne Brother Hood”) and came back to Paris and recorded what became “Laurent Perrier.”

WRE: Where do you see your career in the future?

CC: In the future, I see myself continuing to tour and create the music I love and continue to explore amazing countries.
