Ken Gorin’s Summer Traditions

The Hamptons

Ken Gorin enjoys going to the Northeast for an escape to the Hamptons in the summertime.

Every summer, I like to slip away to the Northeast for an escape to the Hamptons. The lavish seaside town has all the makings of the perfect getaway — luxe boutiques, five-star restaurants, hip hotels, stately manors with sky-high privet hedges, lovely sunsets over the harbour, and social gatherings galore. I mean, what’s not to love about that?

The summer stomping grounds for New York’s jetset, a Hampton’s hideaway entails many of my favorite things. These activities include dining at regular celeb-spotting spots Nick & Toni’s, Sant Ambroeus, Suki Zuki, Trata and The Palm, beaching bumming on dunes of sand, shopping on Maine Street, and unwinding at copious backyard soirees. For the more adventurous, there’s polo, sailing, fishing, golf, tennis and even sky diving, And for the surfer set, Montauk is always an option.

A playground for the rich and famous, the Hamptons boast the homes of some of the media’s biggest names. Ralph Lauren, Martha Stewart, Jerry Seinfeld, Paul McCartney and Calvin Klein, to name a few, own manses by the beach here. I, for one, love the traditional-style architecture here and can attest that the mansions here are a sight to see. No wonder A-listers flock here like moths to a flame.
