It is with much sadness that I write today to wish a fond farewell to our beloved Dwyane Wade. In October 2010, I had the privilege of meeting Dwyane and consequently engaging him as our Brand Ambassador for The Collection.
We had never had a spokesperson before, but from the start Dwyane seemed like a natural fit. He embodied all the ideals that our organization strives for. He is smart, loyal, honorable, loved by all and dedicated to his family and his community. He is respected. We all knew he was bigger than basketball and I was excited to see where that journey would take us together.
Over the course of the last six years, I joined the legions of fans that comprise the #HEATNATION and got to know Dwyane; everything that I had perceived of him proved to be true.
Over the last six years, I watched with all of you as Dwyane went through the highs and lows of life. We celebrated birthdays and weddings together. We drove alongside him in two Championship parades. I traveled to watch him play across the country. We sat beside the likes of Gatorade, Hublot, NiLing, Stance and Pepperidge Farms at his annual brand summits. We launched brand new vehicles together – the Porsche Boxster, the Audi A7, the Maserati Ghibli and most recently the Jaguar F-PACE and Jaguar XE. And, through it all, he did it with class and we all took it in with awe and wonderment, because Dwayne does truly have it all.
So, thank you, Dwyane. Thanks for the legacy and thank you for the honor of being part of the Team Wade Family. Congratulations and best of luck to you and your family in Chicago. On behalf of our entire organization, know this: we are your forever fans.
