The all-new Ferrari California T epitomizes the sublime elegance, sporting versatility and style that have distinguished every California model since the 1950s. It is a car brimming with innovation that more than meets the expectations of discerning drivers for whom fun behind the wheel is a priority, but who also demand a sumptuously comfortable Grand Tourer they can use every day.
Ferrari unveiled the new California T for the first time in North America in May at the New World Symphony in Miami.
The launch party concept was “State of the Art,” highlighting four pillars that embody the accomplishment of the Ferrari brand. The first pillar is “The Art of Performance,” the link between the car and art, as evidenced in its capability and sounds. The second pillar is “The Art of Innovation,” which represents the brand’s use of benchmark technology. The third pillar is “The Art of Triumph,” mirroring the success that is seen in motorsports and owner’s personal achievement. The final pillar is “The Art of Form,” which Ferrari shapes as celebrated beauty.
On the evening of the launch, select collectors and notable guests approached the venue on a long red carpet lined with hedges and, of course, Ferraris – including a 458 Spider, FF, F12 berlinetta and 458 Italia.
The beautiful welcome cocktail reception featured passed delicacies such as foie gras and tiramisu, but all eyes were on the mint vintage 1963 California Spider.
At the main event, the California T was center stage, elevated on a platform, dramatically lit and covered in a red drape.
Guests sipped on bubbly from the exclusive Veuve Clicquot station and specialty cocktail creations, including L’ORCHIDEA ROSSA.
The Dolls spun from above, and delighted the crowd by sporadically accompanying their tunes with live music on electric violins.
After an introduction by Enrico Galliera, Senior Vice President of Commerical & Marketing at Ferrari SpA, a highlight video was projected across multiple screens to a symphonic accompaniment.
The video shows notable features of the car while it zips through scenic Italy. Watch the video for yourself, here: http://auto.ferrari.com/en_EN/multimedia/
After Galliera dramatically uncloaked the car with the touch of a button, he jumped right in, bringing the top down and lowering the platform in the process.
Guests were invited to get up close and personal with the newest addition to the Ferrari family.
The new California T is a sophisticated prancing horse Grand Tourer with a beautifully ergonomic and sumptuously handcrafted cabin. It features a completely new engine that, in a world first, combines the instantaneous response to commands, blistering performance, impressive torque and signature sound typical of a conventional Ferrari power unit with the fuel efficiency of a turbo. Meanwhile, it takes just 14 seconds for the California T to convert from a sophisticated coupé to a chic, seductive spider, courtesy of its retractable hard top. It is a strikingly compact car, a fact that boosts its sporty handling dynamics, while still maintaining truly generous cabin space. The combination of the California T’s uncompromising architecture, dynamic controls and new engine guarantees consistent fun behind the wheel both in challenging and more relaxed driving conditions, in perfect Grand Tourer style.
One fun element of the evening were several motion censored glass cylinders. Each played various audio soundtracks, such as the roar of engine and historical Ferrari audio accounts.
The days that followed were filled with private preview appointments. Guests were able to meet with Ferrari specialists and the California T one-on-one, view an up-close display of the engine, and peruse the atelier wall with color samples.
All attendants received lithograph sketches of the car as thank you gifts.
