As the co-owner of THE COLLECTION — South Florida’s leading luxury automotive dealership — one would expect my personal garage to be brimming with a plethora of cars. But surprise! That’s not the case whatsoever. While I have a fleet of Ferraris, Maseratis, Aston Martins, Audis, McLarens, Jaguars and Porsches at my beck and call, 24/7, my personal collection is comprised of a single 1974 Jaguar XKE. I know, shocking.
A gracious gift from my father, my vintage Jaguar holds a profound sense of sentimental value. Thinking about the momentous day he gifted me the car always brings with it a brush of fond nostalgia. A true beauty, my ’74 Jaguar XKE is considered an exotic classic thanks to its British heritage and timeless design. Plus, we got to restore it together. Whenever I hit the road in my Jag, passersby always comment, “What a beauty!”
And they’re right.
Right now, my “every day” car is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. It’s, shall we say, more practical than the XKE during Miami’s rainy summer months. I enjoy the drive and comfort of the Cayenne and it happens to be a top seller at my dealership. But for me, my Jaguar is a time capsule back to my halcyon youth and will always be my most prized vehicle. Why? Because it was a gift from the most important male figure in my life — my amazing dad.
