It’s the most wonderful time of the year for art lovers… because of Art Basel. Taking place December 7th through the 10th at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the highly anticipated art fair presents over 250 of the world’s leading galleries and draws over 70,000 visitors each year to the Magic City.
Art Basel’s three shows in Basel, Switzerland, Hong Kong, China and Miami Beach, Florida are the premiere art shows presenting modern and contemporary works. In past years, the fair has allowed me the opportunity to soak in the spectacular sights of pieces by revered artists such as Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Botero, Jeff Koons, Banksy and more. We are truly blessed to have it take place in our own backyard.
For design purists, on the other hand, Design Miami/ takes place Dec. 6th through the 10th adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center. Design Miami/ is the global forum for design and attracts the world’s most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics. Think eccentric furniture, far-out lighting, unique home décor and more.
Audi — one of THE COLLECTION’s eight revered brands — is the sole auto sponsor of Design Miami/ since 2006. Last year, Audi and the LEGO group created an interested installation coined “The Extra Hour.” The visual boasted an Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept car placed at the center of a giant clock face. A giant number 25 completely comprised from LEGO bricks represented an extra hour to work, relax and enjoy life.
I’m excited to see what Audi has up its sleeve for this edition of Design Miami/. It’s no secret the German automaker enjoys crossing paths with the art realm — one LEGO brick or autonomous car at a time.
