THE COLLECTION Ferrari was proud to be a part of two incredible events during Miami Art Week 2013.
On Tuesday, December 3, select VIP clients were invited to the exclusive opening of “Piston Head” at the beautiful 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage. At this unique display presented by the Venus Over Manhattan gallery and powered by Ferrari, guests saw what happens when artists engage the automobile. Cars were turned into sculptures by artists such as Richard Prince, César, Keith Haring, and Damien Hirst. At the opening, LA-based artist Joshua Callaghan created a rubbing on a canvas draped over the new LaFerrari supercar. “It’s kind of like a Japanese rubbing of a stone, like you’d rub a hieroglyph, to get an impression of the car,” mega-collector turned gallerist, Adam Lindemann, told Architectural Digest. Prior to the opening, the extremely sought-after LaFerrari was held under top-secret security at THE COLLECTION. Lindemann anticipates Piston Head serving as a framework for a larger, more encompassing art-car exhibition. He says, “I think it’s a nice intersection for people who like cars and people who like art.”
Later that week at a Star Island manse, Hublot hosted their Art of Fusion party to launch their Caviar Tutti Frutti watch. The ambiance was ultra-glam with a long red carpet, multi-color sparkling Caviar Tutti Frutti watches, an installation by famed Chicago artist Hebru Brantley, and shiny THE COLLECTION Ferraris. A FF, an one-of-a-kind FF tailor-made, a 458 Spider, and a California dotted the waterfront property making waves, while standing still. Celebrity chef Todd English treated VIP guests, including Ken Gorin and mayor Philip Levine, to a three-course seated dinner which boasted pork belly BLT, a salt baked black grouper, and a warm chocolate pudding cake. After dinner, Hublot CEO, Rick de la Croix and basketball great, Alonzo Mourning, hosted an auction of works of art to benefit his Mourning Family Foundation. After donations were made, DJ Trey Smith turned the music up and partygoers such as Lenny Kravitz, Lenny and Lisa Hochstein, Gil Dezer, and Amber Ridinger enjoyed the night under the stars.
