The New York International Auto Show kicked off Wednesday April 12, 2017 and it was a good day… or should I say YEAR for the Jaguar F-Pace. Crowned with a double victory, Jaguar’s first SUV was declared the World Car Design of the Year and World Car of the Year 2017 and it was the first time an SUV has won the award in its 13-year history of the World Car Awards. This dramatic beauty has essentially beat out off stiff SUV competition from two of the world’s biggest German marques, VW and Audi. Two of the latest mid-size crossovers, the Tiguan and Q5 respectively had also made the final shortlist.
The performance SUV is the fastest selling model Jaguar has produced. These awards come after a record-breaking year for Jaguar in North America, with 2016 sales up 116 percent and a breakout performance of the Jaguar F-PACE, which became the brand’s top seller in its first year.
What is it like behind the wheel of an F-Pace, you might ask? Combining contemporary design with premium quality finishing, the spacious cabin features front seats with 8-way power movements as standard. As soon as you sit inside, you can’t help but notice the finely crafted details. From the elegance of metal tread plates with Jaguar script and attractive black door trims to the spacious and oh so comfortable seats. I cannot forget to mention the multimedia system which features an 8-inch touchscreen with contemporary graphical design and intuitive touch and swipe controls. It truly puts audio, climate control and optional satellite navigation at your fingertips.
From the bold upright front grille to the muscular hood and striking rear haunches, the F-PACE is a performance SUV that has the DNA of a sports car.
