Alice! The Cheshire Cat! White rabbits! Caterpillars! Magical mushrooms! Oh my! South Florida’s gala season came to a “curiouser and curiouser” close earlier this month. On May 17th, THE COLLECTION Porsche was a proud sponsor of the Whimsical Wonderland Ball, Doctor Hospital‘s third annual fundraising gala, where over 700 guests spiraled down the rabbit hole into an awe-inspiring party.
While the ball was a feast for the senses (more on that in a bit) — it raised more than $700,000 for Doctors Hospital — specifically the hospital’s OR Renovation Project.
“We are grateful to our committee chairs and volunteers for planning another event filled with our signature elements of enchantment, excitement and energy,” said Nelson Lazo, CEO of Doctors Hospital. “Celebrating the magic of the city we live in and the community we serve, the Whimsical Wonderland Ball set the pace for our future by supporting the commitment and dedication of our physicians and caregivers,” he adds.
The Arena at FIU was transformed into the celebrated fable by Lewis Carroll — replete with the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, stilt walkers, live beats, an interactive cupcake wall, over-the-top whimsical décor and more.
Also a part of the extraordinary evening? The all-new Porsche Macan, which made an appearance at the ball — swathed in psychedelic mushrooms, of course. In true Alice in Wonderland form, a caterpillar dancer slinked around the vehicle, posing with guests for a picture-perfect moment.
THE COLLECTION also provided the “Mushroom Bar Lounge.” I know, groovy! Boasting a decidedly garden feel, its grass-textured sofas covered with THE COLLECTION and Porsche branded pillows allowed guests to kick back and relax from the “madness.”
Guests grooved to a space age orchestration of lighting, visual effects, and laser morphing to the beat of the wildest remixes and dance tracks. MOBIUS8, an “Electronic Disc Jockey” and performance artist, played his “hydra,” translating motion into sound.
Awe-inspiring antics aside, the night was all about raising funds for Doctors Hospital, and THE COLLECTION offered a helping a hand as well. Our dealership provided 300 Macan LED bracelets for VIP auction participants. The live auction featured six hand-selected luxury experiences, and THE COLLECTION donated a Porsche High-Performance Sport Driving Experience with first-class airfare, a complimentary weekend loaner on a Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid as an add-on to a dining experience and resort package, and a Porsche pedal car.
With more than $700,000 raised for Doctors Hospital, it was a magical night indeed.
