One of the biggest galas of the season — the Doctors Hospital “ThunderBall” Gala — took place on May 17th. The fourth annual event followed the legendary James Bond: 007 theme where cocktails were properly “shaken, not stirred.”
The evening featured a live performance by Grammy-winning artist Sheena Easton — the Scottish-born pop star who is coined for her hits “Modern Girl” and “Nine to Five.” Easton is also applauded for Academy Award-nominated James Bond movie theme for “For Your Eyes Only” — which is fitting for the night’s James Bond theme.
THE COLLECTION was proud to be a sponsor again this year. Like last year, we provided a multitude of Porsche displays outside the event which included the Porsche Boxster GTS, Macan Turbo, Cayenne Turbo, Panamera S E-Hybrid, Carrera 4 GTS Coupe and the 911 GTS. Inside the FIU Arena, the Porsche 911 Turbo was on display and in full theme as it featured the iconic “ThunderBall” logo on the hood.
Switching our live auction donation to be something very new and exciting this year, one fortunate winner won a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, to experience the all-new jaw-dropping Porsche Experience Center. At the center, the lucky winner will learn to hone their driving skills through one-on-one instruction on unique Porsche test track modules and off-road courses that were purposely built to demonstrate the power, responsiveness and safety at the core of Porsche engineering. The winner will also stay at the ultra luxe Four Seasons Resort while in Atlanta.
The Doctors Hospital Gala with its “license to heal” mantra benefitted the new Doctors Hospital Youth Athletic Outreach Program, which offers more than 35 services to Miami-Dade public schools, including health screenings, seminars, Baptist Health’s Concussion Reduction Program and youth event athletic training coverage. Chairs for the gala included Sandy and Rodney Bell, Dr. Jose and Mirtha Davila, Elizabeth and George Kakouris, Martha and Raul Valdes-Fauli.
