From James Bond to Austin Powers to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off— there is no denying the notion that films and vehicles go together like Batman and the bat mobile. Many times I find that my friends and clients alike can trace back to the very moment they fell in love with a particular car thanks to a Hollywood film.
Whether it was a wild car chase scene or the go-to ride their favorite character drove — cars are often times just as important as the actors in the movie. Take for instance the DeLorean. It’s synonymous with Michael J. Fox and the Back to the Future car. And let’s not forget Sonny Crockett’s 1986 white-hot Ferrari Testarossa in Miami Vice. And the same goes for the Audis in The Transporter and Iron Man (Tony Stark sure does love his R8!).
Speaking of Audi, the German automobile manufacturer is making a splash on the silver screen once again. This past spring, the Audi A3 Cabriolet, TTS and R8 could be spotted in Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron. For Audi, the evolution of the Avengers franchise was a major milestone, which began with Marvel’s Iron Man films. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Audi’s automobiles and brand excitement remained integral parts of the vibe of the film, just as in the three Iron Man movies. Such an amazing feat!
Now in theaters, you can spot the Audi RS7 in Hitman Agent 47. Yes, the spy/action movie features lots of footage of the Audi RS7 in all its agile glory. Also in theaters? Moviegoers can spot the latest generation Audi S8 in The Transporter Refueled. With a spate of Transporter movies under his belt, it is evident actor Jason Statham’s character Frank Martin has an affinity for Audis — as he very well should.
I’m excited to see Audi coming along for the ride in such top-grossing blockbusters. Through Audi’s wave of silver screen stints, they are establishing themselves as an iconic mode of transportation!
