Miami Spice – Special Prices, Extraordinary Food

Calling all Miami foodies! All throughout August and ending on September 30th, locals and visitors alike can relish the ever-famous Miami Spice. For those of you not-in-the-know, Miami Spice is a two-month long promotion where many South Florida-based restaurants offer three-course meals featuring signature dishes at reduced prices — $23 for lunch and $39 for dinner.

From American to Argentine to Brazilian to Caribbean cuisine, South Floridians can savor the spectrum of restaurants — at wallet friendly prices. Restaurants such as Chef Adrianne’s, Bourbon Steak Miami, Cipriani, DB Bistro Moderne, Fontana at The Biltmore Hotel and more are participating in this year’s event.

As for my personal recommendations? It just so happens that many of the restaurants I frequent are taking part in the two-month long fun. Here are a few of my top picks and their Miami Spice offerings for you to savor in:

Christy’s Restaurant: Yes, the Grand Dame of Coral Gables restaurants still packs them in after 35 years with its great food and impeccable service. Order up their famous Ceasar salad and rack of lamb and thank me later. 3101 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables; (305) 446-1400.

Zuma: The Japanese fare and vibrant ambience here are spot on. Home to power lunches and decadent dinners, this Downtown Miami restaurant is one to see and be seen in. Try the swordfish with ginger wafu and Japanese pickles to mix up your palette.  270 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Downtown; (305) 577-0277.

Cecconi’s: Now here’s your chance to snoop around the swanky member’s only Soho Beach House on Miami Beach. Sit outside under the warm glow of twinkling lights as you relish Venetian-inspired eats. The meatballs here are legendary. 4385 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; (786) 507-7902.

Seagrape: This is Seagrape’s first foray in Miami Spice. I’m a huge fan of award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein and her grilled skirt steak is beyond. The added bonus? You can check out the all-new Thompson Hotel while you’re there. 4041 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; (786) 605-4043.

The Forge Restaurant & Wine Bar: This Miami Beach icon has returned with a James Beard award winning, Michelin starred Chef Christopher Lee at the helm. Delight in the filet mignon drizzled in mushroom Madeira sauce and be sure to order the gooey chocolate molten cake. Delicious! 432 West 41st Street, Miami Beach; (305) 538-8533.
