Ken Gorin on the Ferrari FF

It’s safe to say the Ferrari FF is a welcomed departure from the coveted car brand. How so? The versatile FF is the carmaker’s first four-seater and four-wheel drive model. Totally novel, indeed!

The revolutionary FF offers a completely new take on the sporting grand tourer theme. The biggest deal? In my opinion, it would have to be the FF’s body — a two-door wagon style with a shooting brake (also known as a hatchback) — roomy enough to stow away luggage for a jaunt to the swanky Swiss Alps and comfortable enough to seat a party of four. Aside from the rear and its familiar round taillights, the Pininfarina-styled FF is an evolutionary step in styling away from Ferrari’s California and 458 Italia, with headlights that stretch back along the front fenders and functional vents and ducts scattered about.

But make no mistake about it, the FF has the DNA of a thoroughbred Ferrari. It’s not only sporty in the extreme, but also comfortable and easy to drive. It brings a wealth of technology to the mix, too. The FF is also the first and only V12 in the world to sport a seven-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox and it boasts a 20 percent increase in power with a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption. With a top speed of 208 miles per hour, this grand tourer sets itself apart from the competition as the world’s fastest four-seat automobile!

And that, loyal readers, is something to prance about.
