Ken Gorin on Favorite Convertibles

FTYPEnewMGB

Ah, convertibles. Is there anything more thrilling than driving with the top down? I think not. Convertibles are all about enjoying the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. And at THE COLLECTION, there’s no better way to experience the thrill of travel than a joyride in a convertible Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, McLaren, Jaguar or Audi.

As for my top favorite convertibles of all time, here you go:

MGB: The MGB was my first convertible. The MG Car Company Limited was a former British sports car manufacturer founded in the 1920s by Cecil Kimber and was best known for its two-seat open sports cars — just like mine.

Jaguar E-Type: A gracious gift from my father, my vintage Jaguar holds a profound sense of sentimental value. Thinking about the momentous day he gifted me the car always brings with it a brush of fond nostalgia. A true beauty, my ’74 Jaguar XKE is considered an exotic classic thanks to its British heritage and timeless design.

Jaguar F-Type: This Jag just came out and WOW! This is a real beauty. Touted as the brand’s “comeback kid,” this all-new model proves that the “cat got its scratch back.”

Ferrari 458 Spider: Seriously, what is better than the Ferrari 458 Spider? That was a rhetorical question, obviously. Come-hither looks aside, this model is also the first car ever to combine a mid-rear engine with a retractable folding hard top delivering both unprecedented in-cabin comfort when closed and unparalleled Spider performance.

Audi RS5 Cabriolet: Another must-have in the convertible cosmos, I just ordered an Audi RS5 Cabriolet to take to the Hamptons as a spare car this summer. Sporty and comfortable, it offers the best of both worlds.
