Earth Day 2014

With Earth Day taking place Tuesday, April 22, there’s no time like the present to discuss how owning a Hybrid Cars in Miami can lessen your carbon imprint on Mother Earth.Electromobility is the topic of the day. After all, we are all searching for answers to one of the greatest challenges of our time: how to conserve resources. How can we reduce energy requirements and CO2 emissions? Our answer is e-mobility. In other words, sustainable mobility. At THE COLLECTION, our eco-friendlier model range is replete with the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid and all Audi TDI® clean diesel models.

But first, let’s talk about the essence of tree-loving Earth Day. The first-ever Earth Day took place in 1970 and was widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world! Want to know how to make an impact every day? Join the thousands of people who have been contributing to the rising trend in hybrid vehicle ownership. Owners can expect fewer trips to the gas station (hurray to that!), less greenhouse emissions and an overall feeling of mirth…because it’s good to be green!

Check out what THE COLLECTION has to offer to help you achieve your green goals:

Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid

Many roads lead to your destination. But which ones take you further? To a new future? With a sports car for the road and for the 21st century?

Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid Future

E-mobility is the next big step. With the Panamera S E-Hybrid, Porsche is bringing to the road a total concept that networks the car and its driver in an intelligent way. Its performance puts most sports cars to shame, yet its fuel consumption is far below the rate you would usually expect of a sports car.

Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid Charging

In the Panamera S E-Hybrid, oil is substituted for regenerative electricity and combines high performance with excellent everyday practicality. It is a parallel plug-in hybrid, meaning that it can be powered by the combustion engine alone, by the electric machine alone or by both units working together. In this way, it is able to exploit the power generated by both propulsion units.  The concept is rounded off with practical charging systems. Now you can top up your car’s energy levels by plugging it into an electrical socket using the Porsche Universal Charger provided as standard, for an all-electric range of up to 22 miles.

However, it’s no problem if your schedule won’t allow you to leave your Panamera tethered long enough for a full charge. In E-Charge mode, the gas engine can completely recharge the battery on the fly in 19 to 23 miles of light cruising.

It’s easy to distinguish a Panamera S E-Hybrid on the fly thanks to its psychedelic, Acid Green brake calipers and logo.

Intelligent lightweight construction has been integral to the Porsche identity since the very beginning. It forms the basis for low fuel consumption values in conjunction with outstanding performance. There is a high proportion of aluminum, plastics and superhigh-strength sheet steel used. All materials used are meticulously selected. Only innovative and environmentally friendly components are used. All lightweight materials are easily recyclable and each material is labeled to facilitate its separation for recycling. The reduction in the number of plastic variants helps to ensure more efficient recycling. Recycled plastics are used where they meet Porsche’s exacting technical requirements. As a result, the Panamera models are around 95% recyclable.

Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

The parallel full hybrid drive on the Cayenne S Hybrid features a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine and an electric machine (motor/generator) that provides additional power on demand. It offers levels of acceleration that are comparable with a V8 unit, but with a reduction, when compared to the Cayenne S fuel consumption.

With lengthy service intervals and long-life components, vehicle maintenance is kept to a minimum. In the case of the oil filter, for example, all that’s replaced is an easily recoverable paper element. The oil filter casing remains on the car. All moving parts inside the engine are fully self-adjusting. The valve clearances, for instance, feature automatic hydraulic control. Thanks to single-spark coils on each of the cylinders, the entire ignition system on the petrol-engined models, with the exception of the spark plugs, is maintenance-free. These modest service requirements mean less waste disposal and fewer demands on natural resources. They also lower the cost of ownership while keeping your car on the road. Service intervals for the Cayenne models are dependent on a range of factors, including local fuel quality.

Eco-friendly plant for Porsche Macan

Porsche is manufacturing the Macan in one of the most innovative and sustainable automotive plants in the world. Situated about 124 miles south of Berlin in the German city of Leipzip, approximately $677 million has been invested to prepare for production of the fifth Porsche model line.

Porsche Macan Turbo

Thanks to new and innovative technology, Porsche will reduce annual CO2 emissions from the plant by almost 17,000 tons in comparison to conventional systems. Solar panels on the roof, made from photovoltaic cells, are expected to generate up to 800,000 kWh of electricity per year. In the body assembly facility, an innovative cooling system for the robotic welding guns will reduce annual electricity consumption by over 365,000 kWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 70 four-person households in Western Europe. 80% of the heat required for the paint shop is supplied on a carbon neutral basis thanks to a sustainable alliance with a neighboring biomass power plant. Also, surrounding the state-of-the-art plant, the 18 acres of land with have 1,100 new trees.
